I don’t usually do this. I am currently at my wits end here. I am so tired of …stuff.

I like my job. I am good at what I do. The stress I incur is not from the work I do but from the people at the job. One of my co-workers has this problem with comprehension and being able to convey thoughts to others. Explaining things to her is like explaining the Pythagorean Theorem to a dog. When she wants to explain something to me she can’t seem to tell me what it is she wants in a way that anyone can understand it. She also tends to overreact to EVERYTHING.

Today, things just got worse. She wanted me to put in a request (she couldn’t do it herself since she didn’t have access to the system that creates ticket requests), but she didn’t give me the information needed to explain what she really wanted to have done. When I try to get more out of her she has a problem with explaining to me what it is she wants. It’s like if I asked you to draw me a red. Naturally, you are going to ask me ‘A red what?’ So, the conversation goes…

Her: Jason, draw me a red.
Me (Jason): A red what?
Her: A red! You know! RED!
Me: I hear what you are saying, but a RED is not a thing you can just draw. You have to be specific.
Her: Did you get my e-mail that consists of other e-mails which consist of other e-mails about this subject? Read that!
Me: …..ok.

I read the e-mails and discover that she wants a technical drawing of a red car (metaphorically). That kind of request is not easy to do, especially when you only have the most basic of information to go by. I have to come up with all the specs to get a technical drawing together, which takes hours. Ten minutes later she asks for the ‘red’ again. I ignore her because there is a deadline I must meet and I can’t stop to respond to e-mails and hope to make that deadline. About 30 minutes later, this happens.

Her, cc; Supervisor, Senior Manager, IT Manager: Jason, where is my red?
Supervisor: This sounds urgent. Get to it now, please.
Me: I am working on this request. The information that I was given was very vague and cannot be used to create the item needed. I have to gather the information myself and put it together in an organized fashion. This will take some time.
Supervisor: Estimated time of completion?
Me: I have never done this before. Any ETA would just be a guess or a lie, so an hour and a half.

So, not only did she stick me with the research, she tries to get me in trouble with management to get her ‘red’ to her faster than humanly possible. To top it all off, the Supervisor that was included on the e-mail chain thought that she was being comforting or funny or whatever the hell she was doing by adding the album cover to the Queen/David Bowie song Under Pressure to her ‘Thanks’ response. At that point, I wanted to walk out on these people. I was swamped with work. I was the only one in the office to run reports, perform data systems tasks, pretty much take any and all requests that comes through our office on top of creating the new kits that needed to be finished by the deadline of TODAY. Supervisor knew this. Co-worker knew this. Yet they still decided to make my job harder.

I am not the type of person to push back when I am push to a certain limit. I hate conflict. I don’t want to argue. I don’t want to fight. Today I wanted to fight. I was catching hell from all sides and I was on the verge of cursing everyone out and going home. My co-worker didn’t want to do her job or be patient when she asks me to do her job. A Supervisor (who is not even my Supervisor) decides to not understand what is going on and then mock the heavy pressure that I was under. I just don’t get why people are unable to see the pressure they put on others. They only stop when someone snaps at them and they act like they had nothing to do with it.

At the end of the day, the job was done. The world didn’t end. Co-worker thanks me for the help she needed today. I flip her the bird when she walks away. It’s not easy when everyone relies on you every second of the day, especially when they have the capabilities to do these things themselves. It’s very stressful. Monday is another day. I don’t want Monday to come.

I don’t have any of these movies yet. This is the perfect time to pick this up. I am a bit surprised that The Avengers is included in the set when it’s release date is in about a month and a half. July feels too soon for a Blu-Ray release of the Avengers. I’m not complaining, though. I hope the DVD/Blu-Ray extras are good. Now to take out a loan for this thing.
